How to use it

How to Use Your Nomad Insulin Case

Using the Nomad Insulin Travel Case Cooler is simple and straightforward. Just follow these easy steps to ensure your medication stays perfectly chilled during your travels:

  1. Prepare the Biogel Cooling Pack: Shake the Biogel cooling pack up and down for 4-5 shakes to evenly distribute the cooling gel inside.
  2. Freeze the Cooling Pack: Place the pack in your freezer for 6–8 hours. Don’t stress if it stays frozen longer, it’ll still work perfectly!
  3. Activate the Cooling Pack: Once frozen, place the pack in lukewarm tap water for 2–3 minutes to remove any frost. This helps prevent your meds from freezing. If you don't have warm water, just leave it at room temperature for 15–20 minutes. The warm water method works best, especially during different seasons.
  4. Dry and Load Your Medication: Gently towel-dry the Biogel cooling pack, then pop it into your Nomad cooler along with your insulin or other medications.
  5. Seal the Lid: Close the lid securely, and you’re all set!

Cooling Efficiency by Case Size

The cooling performance of your Nomad Insulin Travel Case Cooler will vary depending on whether you use the Large or Small case. The Large Nomad offers slightly more cooling power compared to the Small Nomad.

Large Nomad Cooling Performance:

🌡️ At 30°C: Keeps your insulin and medicine refrigerated between 2°C–8°C for up to 33 hours, and cools below 26°C for up to 52 hours.

🌡️ At 35°C: Keeps your medications refrigerated between 2°C–8°C for up to 30 hours, and cools below 26°C for up to 48 hours.

🌡️ At 40°C: Keeps medications refrigerated at 2°C–8°C for up to 28 hours, and keeps it cool below 26°C for up to 46 hours.

Small Nomad Cooling Performance:

🌡️ At 30°C: Keeps insulin and medications refrigerated between 2°C–8°C for up to 30 hours, and cools below 26°C for up to 48 hours.

🌡️ At 35°C: Keeps meds at 2°C–8°C for up to 28 hours, and cools below 26°C for up to 46 hours.

🌡️ At 40°C: Keeps medicine refrigerated at 2°C–8°C for up to 26 hours, and cools below 26°C for up to 44 hours.

Each Nomad travel cooler includes one Biogel cooling pack. For ongoing use, we recommend purchasing extra Biogel packs. Keep them frozen, and you’ll always be ready to swap them out when needed!

Frequently asked questions

Can 4AllFamily’s Medical Coolers be used for insulin?

Absolutely! Our medical travel case cooler were originally designed with insulin in mind, ensuring they’re perfectly suited for all your insulin storage needs.

For your in-use insulin pens and vials, it’s vital to keep them protected from heat and stored at room temperature below 26°C.

Unopened insulin, however, must be kept refrigerated at a temperature of 2-8°C.

While some of our coolers are designed to provide fridge-temperature storage, other offer room-temperature cooling.

We recommend checking the detailed cooling performance specifications for each cooler on their respective product pages.

Our insulin cooler cases are compatible with all types of insulin pens and vials sold in South Africa, including Admelog, Afrezza, Apidra, Basaglar, Fiasp, Humalog, Humulin, Lantus, Levemir, Lyumjev, Novolin, Novolog, Novorapid, Ryzodeg, Toujeo, Tresiba, Velosulin, and Xultophy, among others.

Can 4AllFamily’s Medical Coolers be used for other diabetes injections?

Yes!ᅠOur medical travel coolers and portable fridges are suitable for any diabetes injection that needs to be kept cool or refrigerated while travelling.

Yes, our medical-grade travel cooling cases and portable fridges are great to carry weight-loss injections.
